Annelise Vuorinen (b. 2001 Sydney) is an emerging multidisciplinary artist working and living on Gadigal land in Sydney, NSW. Vuorinen studied at the National Art school, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2023 and will complete her Master of Fine Arts in 2026. She has exhibited across Sydney, participating in group-shows at Good-space, the Hollywood Hotel and Anti-gallery in 2023. Vuorinen was selected to intern at the National Art School in 2024. Her works are held in private collections across Australia and Germany.
Her work encompasses numerous medias, including painting, sculpture and installation. It largely describes a mingling of spirituality, the occult and architecture. She explores ideas of impermanence, mortality and the non-physical through her depictions of symbolism and varied material process. Vuorinen explores the materiality of fragile plasters, translucent rendering of paint and decorative mark-making from cast-iron. Her most recent work employs the stencilling of found iron and aluminium offcuts on top of plastered cotton. These reclaimed objects are manipulated to project liminality and ambiguous forms onto canvas. Her work explores boundaries between what is tangible and what is ephemeral, what is familiar and what is unrecognisable.
